Administrators Erroneous Posted November 29, 2022 Administrators Share Posted November 29, 2022 This is just an open thread I'm making (setting up) to list names both English and Japanese of the people responsible for working on and having a hand in producing .hack in both Japanese and English. Administrators Erroneous Posted July 30 Author Administrators Share Posted July 30 Artist Itsuki Hoshi CC2 Tokyo Studio staff Quote Around when did you join CyberConnect2 and why? I joined in 2016. I had been accepting jobs for CC2 as a freelancer before joining the company as an employee. Being inside the company during the work day, though, makes it so I can get in contact with the other staff in a more timely manner. That’s why CC2 requested that I become an employee. I had always liked .hack and had been supporting them as a fan. The president knew about me before I started working with the company. Before joining CC2, I worked as a manga artist, which spurred him to suggest working together. Can you give me a rundown of your job at the moment? I’m currently drawing illustrations for a certain project I can’t mention the title of yet. I provide the illustrations needed within proposals and design documents to make the project easier to understand to the reader. What do you like doing on your days off? I like drawing, so I end up doodling, even on my days off. Because there aren’t any time limits or anything when I’m drawing on my own vacation days, which makes it really fun. I especially like drawing fan art! Itsuki Hoshi is on Twitter! Follow them if you're interested! Administrators Erroneous Posted July 30 Author Administrators Share Posted July 30 Head Public Relations Sara Nelkin Quote Hi guys—Sarah here. Today, I'm going to tell a personal story of mine. I first knew the name “.hack” when I was in elementary school. In love with games like “Final Fantasy” and “Dark Cloud,” “.hack” should have been the next step for me. There was just one problem… The illustration of Aura on the cover of “.hack//Infection” scared me. The white background, her pure white skin and hair… Maybe I was a weird kid, but it scared me for some reason. So, the first time I ever touched .hack was in 2007 with .hack//G.U. Suggested to me by a friend in high school, I started playing, but was so hooked I couldn’t stop. I shared my games with my friends, and we also shared strategies and thoughts about the story. On my own, I constantly looked up the lore and production history behind the games. It’s not an exaggeration to say that my love for “.hack” took up a large part of my high school life. Who here also got into .hack through G.U.? At the time I was just starting to get into “.hack,” it was still 2007 or 2008. While Tokyopop had released a number of the novels and manga related to the series in English, there was one manga I had interest in that hadn’t been released yet overseas: “hack//Alcor,” a manga revolving on a new female character’s friendship with Alkaid, as well as this new character’s one-sided romance for Silabus. I was desperate to read it. There was just one problem… While I could speak Japanese, I couldn’t read it for the life of me. I ordered a copy of “.hack//Alcor” from overseas as the very first Japanese book I ever bought in my life. It was thanks to this book that I was ever able to begin learning to read Japanese at all, actually. So, with me now doing various things—including some translation—at CyberConnect2, the creators of the “.hack” franchise, I guess you could say that things have come full circle. Have any fond memories about the “.hack” manga?

Administrators Erroneous Posted July 30 Author Administrators Share Posted July 30 Producer Hiroto Niizato Quote Around when did you join CyberConnect2 and why? Before forming CyberConnect2 (known as CyberConnect at the time), I worked at the game developer Taito, that at the time mostly worked with arcade games. I ended up joining the company not really understanding that. (laughs) Taito had released RPGs and other games for home consoles, but the creation of those games was left to outside developers. The only in-house development Taito did was for arcade games. I loved RPGs, so I really wanted to create one myself. One of my co-workers—the first president of CyberConnect—reached out to me and asked to work together to form a new company. That’s how I became a founding member. Can you give me a rundown of your job at the moment? CyberConnect2’s games are split into two categories: original games and licensed games. Ever since the company’s creation, I’ve been in charge of the development of original games, including ".hack". At the beginning, I was working only in project planning, development, and direction, but now I don’t just focus on one project, but multiple original projects. I give advice to the creators, and also help organize things. For starters, I participate in meetings for the original projects. To be specific, I have meetings with the leaders of the C5 projects, as well as the president. I give the leaders advice on their game’s story and setting. The president has his own thoughts as well, so one of my jobs is to be a middle-man when the project leaders and the president aren’t getting their thoughts across clearly. What do you like doing on your days off? I’m always studying in order to excel at my job. To be more specific: I play video games. I watch anime. I watch TV shows. I read manga. My most recent recommendation is the anime Megalobox. It’s kind of a remake of Ashita no Joe, a fairly old manga. Megalobox is about a boy who is training to become a professional boxer so he can face off against his rival. The creators are very good at crafting a story. Every episode gets me excited.
