About This File

An addon and a library to read and import CyberConnect Streaming Files (.CCS) in blender, made by AI-Hydra and commissioned by Shonen.

This add-on is compatible with Blender (install ver) and Blender (portable ver).

To install this add-on:

  • Go to Edit > Preferences
  • Click on add-on tab on the left
  • On the upper right corner click on the down arrow (ver 4.2) and then select Install from Disk
  • Find and select the ZIP file from this download and you are done

Now you can import .ccs files directly into Blender, but first you must get the files from the data/data.bin file from the game's disk and unpack that bin file with CCSFileExplorderWV by zerokilo.

To load a .ccs into Blender:

  • Go to File > Import
  • Click on CyberConnect Streaming File (.ccs)
  • Find your .css models from your dothack game after extracting from the data.bin file

By default, you will see a gray textureless model with black dots, to fix this follow the next steps.

Above the XYZ in the upper right corner are four circles for viewport shading, by default you are in solid mode, switch to render preview.

  • Display the object as wire edges
  • Display as solid mode
  • Display in Material Preview mode
  • Display render preview

To the left of this is an eye with a mouse cursor. Click the down arrow and click the eye icon for armature to hide the black dots.

Amazing tool! But does anyone know how to make the surfaces not be like transparent? I think it's something like surface normals not being right (im new to both this site and blender) 

Best way i can describe it without showing pictures:

From my use of this addon, I found that this addon is not optimized for older CC2 game .ccs files like 2002's .hack//Infection Mutation Outbreak Quarantine. This addon definitely is better optimized for later games like 2006's .hack//G.U. and more recent.

The bone structures are twisted when it comes to the characters hips with the .hack//Infection .ccs files a lot, toes are curled up and raised soles, and the textures (might be what you are referring to) are a bit messed up in the faces that they do look opaque & transparent at the same time.

The creator of this addon is not a user on this site, I strongly suggest you press the "new issue" button on Github on the issues page for this repository.

Thank you! Yeah tbh I think the characters/objects in the game themselves are not optimized, I remember I had problems when doing a 3D print with BlackRoses sword having the normals pointing in different directions etc. I'll def mention it in the github, but managed to get the same "broken look" in StudioCCS when I selected "Draw Options" > "Backface Culling", and "somewhat" managed to solve it in blender by deselecting that (but it still had like a patchy colour to it ^^')
